Behavior of hydrogen in blast furnace; dependence of degree of hydrogen utilization and yield of carbon monoxide on specific hydrogen consumption is illustrated; true degree of hydrogen utilization, calculated by proposed formula with allowance for indirect reduction of FeO, decreases continually with increasing natural-gas consumption N; at high natural-gas consumptions, two indices ("true" and "obs") converge; reduction factors do not prevent elevation of N to values substantially higher than those so far obtained.
