Analysis of ultimate torsional strength of rectangular reinforced concrete beams is presented, based on assumed failure mechanism; by combining theoretical derivation with results of tests it seems possible to obtain simple formula for ultimate torque; equation derived shows great similarity with equation for ultimate bending strength of rectangular reinforced concrete beam.
