Nonuniform torsion of composite beams
General expressions governing behavior of beam of composite, open, thin-walled cross section subjected to nonuniform torsion are developed; these expressions are rewritten in series form for case in which cross section is composed of series of flat plates of different materials; numerical results are presented for composite tee-section; results indicate significant increase in torsional resistance of such sections due to composite action; equations for determining torsional properties of composite sections used in buildings and bridges are also presented.
