Discussion of factors affecting properties of concrete relevant to determination of stresses in concrete reactor shield; selection of type of concrete best suited to particular requirements of reactor shielding; effect of partial drying of shield on distribution of temperature; it is concluded that distribution of moisture content in shield is of major importance.
