Construction and operation of longitudinal ventilation system of Hamburg street tunnels
From four systems examined, longitudinal ventilation by means of jet blowers installed along tunnel ceiling was found to be most economical for vehicular tunnels up to 1200 m long; empirical data are given on required fresh air volume per second for various length tunnels and maximum CO-concentration of 200 ppm; theoretical formulas are derived for determining size and number of blowers for given velocity of head wind; CO-concentration monitoring system is described.
