Road tunnel and railway bridge for Antwerp
Joining of canal basins in Antwerp docks cut off industrial development area over 5 1/2 mi long; construction of road tunnel and railway bridge which will soon provide access to area beyond new canal; tunnel, designed for one-way traffic in each of two completely separate tunnel tubes, will have total length of 3738 ft, 2688 ft fully covered, and 525 ft at each end fitted with sun-screen; canal bridge, with total length of 2400 ft, comprises 10 approach bridges in prestressed concrete, four fixed metal spans above basin, and central bascule bridge.
