Heating of roadway at Mont Blanc tunnel entrance
Heating of 700 sq m area is provided by armored insulated Pyrotenax cable placed at depth of 5 cm in asphalt concrete layer; main characteristics of system are as follows -- nine heating elements 340 m long each, placed at 20 cm distance, power of each element 11.4 kw, specific power 171 w/sq m, total installed power 102.6 kw; purpose of heating is prevention of icing of pavement at tunnel entrance.
