A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Tests conducted at various laboratories on fire hazards of carpet covered floors; materials tested were wool and synthetic fibers; graphs and tables show results realized for ceiling and floor temperatures of corridors and rooms, fire spread, spot ignition and tunnel tests: weave density, pile height, backing, dye and manufacturing processes must be considered in further testing beside fiber content; increased use of carpeted floors in hospitals and public buildings, and new products call for more testing as basis for specifications.
