A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Research needs in structural engineering for decade 1966-1975
Immediate and near-future research needs in structural engineering are identified by major subject area and are discussed; estimates of costs of recommended research programs are presented; effort is made to relate equipment and facility needs and increase in research personnel requirements to total estimated cost of proposed programs; projected structural engineering research needs are broken down by general subject area as follows -- methods of analysis and design; electronic computation; masonry and reinforced concrete; metal structures; structural plastics; wood structures; buried structures; structures in outer space; underwater structures; new structural materials and forms; and implementation of new knowledge.
