Synthesis of space truss based on dynamic criteria
Development of computer program for automated design of hyperstatic truss structures subject to alternative resonant frequency requirements; program is based on extending fully-stressed design concept to include resonant frequency requirements; procedure involves iterative process of analysis and automated redesign to select optimum member sizes; use of program in design of hyperstatic truss structures for current space program is described; graphical results are presented on behavior of various structural parameters during design procedure; computer times are of 5 min per design; program was used repeatedly to investigate alternative truss configurations and design restraints.
