New developments in design of steel frames for tall buildings
Illustrated description of main characteristics of 100-story steel-frame John Hancock Center now being constructed in Chicago; this example of new conception of skyscraper framework is presented in context with considerations on evolution of this type of building; stability, wind resistance model tests, thermal insulation, waterproofing, stress analysis, and construction methods are briefly reviewed.
