Workability and weldability of high strength steel
New steel, YES is manufactured in Japan by method that is different from methods used conventionally for manufacturing high tension steel; it is semi-killed steel with higher yielding point and improved weldability obtained by adding columbium and vanadium; steel is reported to be lower in price and to have properties as good bridge material; results of tests carried out on two highway bridges in Japan are described.
