Some considerations affecting minimum depth of small highway bridge girders
Most of steel highway bridges in Great Britain are of multiple girder deck type with single, simply supported spans of less than 100 ft, and bridges of that type are considered with respect to some of factors involved in attempting to arrive at rational basis for determining minimum depth possible; specified rules for depth and deflection; effect of deflection and transverse bracing; economic considerations. Before Instn Civ Engrs. (See also - discussion p 433-4)
