Report presents particular type of sandwich panel which consists of two outer faces joined by deformed core; deformed core, made up of series of connected thin-shell shapes resembling hyperbolic paraboloids, can be made from flat sheet of any rigid material; deformed core is made by forming flat sheet into series of "peaks and valleys" by any convenient method; uniqueness of core is its ability to transmit shear through membrane action rather than by shear behavior; various types of failure are discussed and relations governing failure modes are presented; experimental results which indicate type of behavior which can be expected.
