Service life prediction of coral aggregate concrete structure under island reef environment
Highlights Service life of coral aggregate concrete (CAC) under island reef environment were studied. Influence of concrete cover thickness and concrete strength on service life of CAC were discussed. Durability design parameters of CAC structural were proposed.
Abstract Based on the reliability theory and modified chloride diffusion theory, the effects of concrete cover thickness and concrete strength on the service life of coral aggregate concrete (CAC) under island reef environment were analyzed, and the durability design parameters of CAC structural were proposed. As the result, the (1-m) power function boundary condition is recommended as the calculation model of service life. The service life of CAC structures are as follows: air zone (T) > underwater zone (P) > tidal zone (PG) > splash zone (PT). For the silane-coated CAC structures, the concrete cover thickness of C65T, C70P, C70PG and C80PT is 11.5–12.2, 5.8–7.2, 7.2–8.2 and 10.4–12.2 cm, respectively, which can meet the service life requirement of 50–100 a. It is suggested that 304 stainless steel and silane-coated should be used in CAC structures to effectively improve its service life.
