Artificial intelligence and expert systems in law enforcement: Current and potential uses
Abstract Artificial intelligence technologies (e.g., natural language processing, robotics, and expert systems) are emerging in the law enforcement field. By the year 2000 artificial intelligence will be widely used and should revolutionize the way police agencies function. This article looks at artificial intelligence with special emphasis on expert systems because these problem-solving programs are expected to have the most impact on administration and operations. The future of expert systems is then set out.
