Bond strength modeling for corroded reinforcements
AbstractBond strength of corroded reinforcements is theoretically modeled. First, corrosion pressures before and after corrosion cracking are calculated. Influence of reinforcement corrosion on concrete cover is considered and effective depth of concrete cover is introduced at different corrosion levels. Then, the frictional contact force that develops along the bar–concrete interface and interlocking force of the bar ribs in concrete are calculated by taking into account the reduction in the height of the bar ribs and reduction of cover concrete due to corrosion. As a result, bond strength of corroded bars under splitting failure is calculated. The theoretical results are compared with the experimental results and agree with those results well.
