A global procedure for stability analysis of slopes based on the Morgenstern-Price assumption and its applications
Abstract By combining the numerical stability of the global analysis method and the flexibility of the Morgenstern-Price method, a global procedure for the stability analysis of slopes is developed. Firstly, based on the Morgenstern-Price assumption of inter-slice forces, an expression for the distribution of normal stress on the sliding surface is derived. Then, the equilibrium equations of the sliding body are built. Finally, three different expressions for the distribution of normal stress on the sliding surface are proposed, followed by the comparison of their effects and the stability analysis of a large-scale landslide exposed during the construction of a hydropower project.
