Influence of cane filter cakes and cattle manure on micronutrients content in sugar-beet and their availability in alkaline sandy loam soil
AbstractThe results of a three-year trial with 10 and 20 t ha−1 each of sulphitation filter cake (SFC), carbonation filter cake (CFC) and cattle manure (CM) applied each year showed that successive application of SFC and CM increased the contents of Zn, Fe and Cu in sugar-beet leaf blade as well as their availability in the soil. The effects of both the levels of these manures became significant by the third year. On the other hand, the application of CFC tended to decrease these micronutrients both in the tissue and soil, though the significant decrease was only with Zn and Fe and that, too, with the higher level in the third year only. The Mn content remained unaffected by all types and years of manure applications.
