Elasto-plastic behaviour of steel frame works
AbstractThis paper presents the main results of research on the elasto-plastic behaviour of steel frame works. The requirements of Eurocode 3 for a plastic design are very conservative. Experimental tests and numerical simulations on beams and portal frames have shown that the parameter ‘rotation capacity’ quantifies by itself the possibility to develop a plastic hinge and can replace the plastic design requirements of Eurocode 3.
