Free vibration of a clamped-free circular cylindrical shell partially filled with liquid—part II: Numerical results
Abstract Detailed numerical results for theoretical analyses stated in a companion paper1 are presented. Calculations are carried out for two test cylinders used in the experiment.2 The free vibration characteristics of a clamped-free cylindrical shell partially filled with liquid are clarified. It is found that there is an interesting phenomenon for the partially filled shell in which the mode shape of natural vibration varies with the circumferential wave number. Effects of the initial hoop stresses, as well as the liquid surface condition, on the natural frequencies are also examined.
