Catalytic conversions of bicyclo[4.3.0]nonane with activated alumina
Abstract A study was made of conversions of bicyclo[4.3.0]nonane at 200° on activated alumina. A C9 bicyclic hydrocarbon complex is formed under these conditions, containing methylbicyclo[3.3.0]octanes, methylbicyclo[3.2.1]octanes, methylbicyclo[2.2.2]octanes and bicyclo[3.3.1]nonane. The composition of products of isomerization and the sequence of conversions generally correspond to those found during isomerization of bicycle[4.3.0]nonane on aluminium chloride or bromide at lower temperatures.
