A simple mechanical model for rockslides and avalanches
Abstract A simplified but rigorous mechanical description of the motion of the mass center of rockslides and avalanches leads to an ordinary second order differential equation that accounts for a variety of complex phenomena including periodic pore pressure variations with time, transient loading and rock slide ‘triggering’.
