Reflection characteristics of permeable seawalls
AbstractThe reflection characteristics of permeable vertical seawalls has been determined with a numerical model based on the methodology proposed by Ijima et al. (1976). The variation of the reflection coefficients with the porosity of the wall, its friction factor and the relative wall width is studied and compared with the analytical results of Madsen (1983). The numerical model was further applied to study the reflection characteristics of sloping permeable walls. The behaviour of vertical and sloping permeable walls in reflecting wave energy is discussed in detail. In addition, numerical results on Kr for a seawall placed on a sloping bed are also obtained and compared with the results of a wall on a flat bed.
