A method of monitoring mudflow movements
Abstract A method for continuously measuring surface movements of mudflows is described, based on work in northeast Ireland. Some results are presented which show that the mudflows move erratically, combining periods of quiescence with accelerating and decelerating patterns. Rapid surges of movement also occur and may be related to the onset of heavy rainfall.
