Rheological behaviour of cements mixed with polymeric latices
AbstractThe rheological behaviour of cement systems modified by adding polymers is studied. Acrylic, vinyl and epoxy polymers have been tested. Rheological measurements of the pastes were performed in a coaxial cylinder viscometer while workability of the mortars was evaluated by means of the slump test. The behaviour of the different systems reveals that acrylic latices have a strong plasticizing effect in some cases comparable to naphtalenesulphonate, while vinyl and epoxy polymers act as plasticizers only if satisfactorily mixed.
