A discussion of the paper “Effect of carbonation on cement paste microstructure characterized by micro-computed tomography”
Highlights Evolution of linear attenuation coefficient (LAC) regarding carbonation may vary via different CT. X-ray energy level used for CT scan can reverse the LAC relationship between calcium carbonate and calcium hydroxide. Hygral equilibrium and polymorphs of carbonation product can also affect the LAC of carbonated areas.
Abstract A discussion on a recently published article authored by Kim et al. [Effect of carbonation on cement paste microstructure characterized by micro-computed tomography. Constr. Build. Mater. 263 (2020) 120079] is presented.
