Aerodynamic stability of Nagoya Port Bridges
AbstractIn Nagoya, Japan, three long-spanned cable-stayed bridges are taking shape.They are named, respectively, West Bridge, Central Bridge, and East Bridge, or collectively Nagoya Port Bridges. All of these bridges are scheduled for completion in 1997. With each of these bridges, its aerodynamic stability was carefully evaluated at the early design stage by testing in a modern wind tunnel the scale models of bridge girder, tower, and entire bridge structure.This paper reviews specifically the experimental studies made of Central Bridge, the largest of all in span length, for the evaluation of its aerodynamic stability.
