Microcrystalline calcium hydroxide in Portland cement pastes of low water/cement ratio
AbstractA microcrystalline form of calcium hydroxide has been observed in Portland cement pastes of low water/cement ratio by transmission electron microscopy of sections thinned from bulk, hardened pastes. The typical morphology is of clusters of microcrystals in the form of lamellae ∼10nm thick, parallel to the basal plane. The lamellae tend to be aligned although the perfection of the alignment is variable. The clusters are embedded in the hydrate gel.
RésuméMediante el microscopio electrónico de transmissión se ha observado una forma microcristalina de hydróxido cálcico en muestras de pastas de cemento Portland con bajo contenido de agua en cemento, obtenidas en forma de láminas finas a partir de bloques de pasta endutecida. La morfologia tipica consiste en groupos de microcristales en forma de laminillas, apoximmadamente 1 nm de espesor, paralelas al plano base. Las laminillas tienden a estar alineadas, uunque el elineamiento no es siempre perfecto. Los grupos están ocluidos en el gel de hidrato.
