Abstract Baba, K., 1994. Slope failure in a cutting in marine clay. In: E.F.J. de Mulder (Editor), Engineering Geology in Quaternary Deposits.Eng. Geol., 37: 51–59. Marine, Holocene clays in the Tokyo Bay area were leached by fresh water since the Mid-Holocene sea level drop. This caused destabilization in the sediment texture resulting in a high sensitivity for sliding and mass movements. This paper describes the soil mechanical characteristics of a slope failure.
