Preparation of aliphatic and alicyclic tetracarboxylic acids
Abstract 1. Optimum conditions were determined for the oxidation of tetrahydrophthalic and endomethylene tetrahydrophthalic anhydrides with nitric acid to prepare butane- and cyclopentane tetracarboxylic acids, respectively. 2. A general mechanism is proposed for the oxidation of tetrahydrophthalic and endomethylene tetrahydrophthalic anhydrides.
