Abstract 1. 1. A study was made of the reaction of thiophenol with butadiene in the presence of ethylsulphuric acid of different concentrations. Crotyl phenyl sulphide is the only reaction product. 2. 2. On heating with quinoline, crotyl phenyl sulphide cyclizes to 2-ethylthiaindane and 2-methyl-(thiochroman).
