AbstractA method of the estimation of fatigue life on the basis of simulated rainflow matrices is dealt with in the paper. According to this procedure, values which have been obtained from measured operational realizations could be extrapolated. The simulating method also respects nonstationary and cross-correlating influences and the existence of various discontinuous events which are very important from the fatigue point of view. Problems are discussed which arise at the specification of fatigue increments, which are caused by individually closed hysteresis loops, according to various hypotheses of fatigue damaging. Queries that are connected with the correctness and accuracy of the approach are analyzed in the paper as well.
