Ground vibration isolation with geofoam barriers: Centrifuge modeling
AbstractGround vibrations due to human activity can be reduced with the installation of vertical barriers within the soil. The efficiency of the isolation system depends on various parameters such as depth, width, distance from the source, wavelength. A centrifuge parametric study is conducted to examine the influence of the different parameters in some reduced scale models made of Expanded polystyrene (EPS) isolation barriers within Fontainebleau sand in order to determine geofoam isolation efficiency.
