AbstractUrban street furniture are the structural elements that vary depending on cultural features of countries or cities. These elements have a very important role in the view of adding a meaning to “city identify” and faciliting of the “society life”. The historical fountains as a street furniture widespread in Turkey. This historical street fountains do not exist anywhere except from Turkey.Within this study, historical fountains which the oldest of those remained from century XIII and their usage culture were examined pattern of fountains in Erzurum that is located in the east of Turkey, and it was determined that use of fountains in society had an important role in the presence of these fountains.
ÖzetKent mobilyaları, ülke ve şehirlerin kültürel özelliklerine bağlı olarak çeşitlenen donatı elemanlarıdır. Bu elemanlar, kent kimliği ve toplum hayatını kolaylaştırmak açısından çok önemli bir role sahiptir.Kent mobilyası olarak tarihi çeşmeler Türkiye’de oldukça yaygındır. Bu tarihi kent mobilyaları, Türkiye’nin dışında başka herhangi bir yerde mevcut değildir.Bu çalışmada en eskisi 13. yy’dan kalan tarihi çeşmeler ve onların kullanım kültürü, Türkiye’nin doğusunda yer alan Erzurum’daki çeşmelerin örneğinde incelenmiştir ve çeşmelerin varlığında toplum tarafından kullanılmasının önemli bir rol oynadığı belirlenmiştir.
