Biogas production potential of Euphorbia tirucalli L. along with cattle manure
AbstractThe biogas production potential of green, laticiferous, succulent stems of Euphorbia tirucalli L. was determined by batch process. The slurry, consisting of 375 g fresh cow-dung, 375 g of 1-cm bits of E. tirucalli and 750 g water produced 19·2 litres of biogas in nine weeks as compared to 16·5 litres produced by cow-dung alone. The proteolytic, cellulolytic and methanogenic organisms were higher in E. tirucalli treatment. The carbon dioxide content of the biogas was 38% from E. tirucalli plus dung and 35% from cow-dung alone.
