Vortex-induced oscillation of two dimensional rectangular cylinders in large scale turbulence
AbstractThis paper investigates the aerodynamic response, in particular the vortex-induced oscillation, of two dimensional rectangular cylinders with aspect ratios of 2.5 and 5 in the turbulent flow with large scale. The turbulent flow is generated by two active arrays of airfoils and plates. The scale of turbulent flow through the active gust generator is approximately one order larger than the scale of turbulence through a passive grid. The amplitudes of vortex-induced oscillation of the cylinder in large scale turbulence are compared with the amplitude in smooth flow.
