Ambient vibration tests on long span suspension bridges
Abstract This paper examines the likely accuracy of the results obtained from ambient vibration tests on long span suspension bridges. In particular, the paper looks at which dynamic characteristics of a bridge can be determined accurately by this method of testing. Details are given of the results from experiments on one bridge. These results demonstrate that some of the dynamic characteristics obtained are, to a large extent, dependent upon the parameters used in the analysis.
