Women designers — is there a gender trap?
Abstract The design consultancy business is an expanding service industry and is undergoing changes to its structure and organization. As professionalization occurs the opportunities for women designers are affected. A three-hurdles model is presented here to compare the influences on career development for women designers in two distinctive areas, those of graphics and industrial design.
