Investigation of shear strength of SIFCON using torsion tests
AbstractA study was conducted to determine the shear strength of slurry infiltrated fibre reinforced concrete (SIFCON) by inducing pure shear in SIFCON specimens. Cylindrical specimens of SIFCON were cored from cast blocks and tested in torsion. Results of the torsion tests predict a range of shear strengths dependent on fibre orientation of the specimens. Elastic analysis was used to determine the range of shear stress involved. A value for shear strength based on slurry strength is suggested for design.
