An array of Hagen-Cockerell wave power absorbers in head seas
A theoretical study is given for the dynamic properties of a floating head-sea absorber in a parallel array. The absorber is a slender raft with power converters attached at the connecting hinges in order to extract wave energy from the relative rotation of adjacent pontoons. The effect of neighbouring rafts on the optimum efficiency and the corresponding converter impedance, motion amplitudes and waves forces are worked out by a numerical method of integral equation and an approximate analytical method for slender bodies. In addition, the drift force is also discussed.
