Ultra-high-performance geopolymer concrete: A review
Highlights This study progresses a state-of-the-art review of Ultra-high-performance geopolymer concrete. The physical and chemical properties of UHP-GPC is reviewed. The fresh and hardened properties of UHP-GPC is discussed. The durability and microstructure properties of UHP-GPC is reviewed. Recommendations and observations are advanced for future research.
Abstract Geopolymer (GP) concrete refers to a set of aluminum silicate-containing materials activated by a highly alkaline solution and have significant advantages compared to normal concrete, such as the ability to develop excellent thermomechanical properties and durability with lower impact on the environment. Ultra-high-performance geopolymer concrete (UHP-GPC) is a new type of ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC) developed to meet the demand for ultra-high strength, eco-friendly, and cost-effective building materials. This paper provides a state-of-the-art review of the technical and production properties of the recent advances and perspectives of UHP-GPC, including environmental parameters, mix design, fresh properties, mechanical properties, dynamic behavior, strain hardening, durability properties, microstructural properties, and the relationship between compressive strength and each of the splitting tensile strength and modules of elasticity (MoE).
