Simplified synthesis of layered double hydroxide using a natural source of magnesium
AbstractThe dolomite is a double carbonate; it is a natural source of calcium and magnesium ions. In this study, Mg–Al–CO3 layered double hydroxide was synthesized from the dolomite by a simple method. The effect of synthesis parameters, such as M2+/Al3+ ratio, reaction temperature and pH on their structure, and textural properties were studied. The structure of materials was characterized by X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and Brunauer, Emmett, and Teller (BET) measurements.
