Effect of humidity on subcritical crack growth in cement paste
AbstractThe effect of humidity on subcritical crack growth in cement paste was studied. Log crack velocity — stress intensity factor curves were obtained using a double-torsion technique. The data were used as a basis for assessing possible crack growth mechanisms. The character and relative position of these curves were both humidity and porosity dependent. Comparison was made of these curves with those obtained for glass at various humidities; similarities and differences are discussed.
