Tailoring the precipitation in Al alloys through local plastic deformation
AbstractFeasibility of selectively enhancing the surface properties without sacrificing the bulk strength properties of agehardenable alloys is demonstrated by generation of local surface plastic deformation by indentation. The results indicate that the current strategy of local surface deformation can be extended other precipitation hardenable alloys to tailor the properties as desired.
