Determination of ventilation rates in occupied buildings from metabolic CO2 concentrations and production rates
AbstractA programme is developed for determining the internal and external ventilation coefficients for an occupied building from measured CO2 concentrations and production rates. Errors in the estimated coefficients resulting from errors in the input data and from the approximations used in deriving the ventilation equations are studied and a procedure developed for keeping the errors in the output to an acceptable level. The metabolic CO2 method is then compared with measurements of the decay of a tracer-gas and good agreement is obtained.
