Effects of gross errors on structural design
Abstract In this paper, an attempt is made to take into account the effects of gross errors at the design stage, by using either two dimensional or fuzzified measures. The first measure uses the two-dimensional concept proposed by Ditlevsen, while the ‘fuzzified’ probability of failure is used as the second measure. In both instances, the design problem is described as a model of a decision-making process. Some consideration is given to the criterion of minimizing total expected cost.
