Special features of the action of inhibitors in liquid-phase oxidation of hydrocarbons
Abstract 1. The antioxidizing activity of substitutd phenol depends considerably on the degree of screening of the hydroxyl group and on the radical which is in the p-position to this group. 2. The direction of catalytic action of β-naphthol and DP-11 is determined by the concentration used: in small amounts they accelerate, while in large amount, they slow down oxidation. 3. Inversion of the oxidizing synergistic effect of a twin additive, consisting of DP-11 and a mixture of amines, to antioxidizing effect dependent on a change of concentration, is described as double synergism.
