Electron microprobe analyses of Nigerian clinkers
AbstractAccurate EMPA results were obtained for alite and belite phases in seven Nigerian clinkers, though the level of accuracy dropped appreciably for the intersitial phases owing to the limitation of prove analyses of minute grains (< 5μm. A partition of the 12% Fe2O3 was used for distinction between aluminate and ferrite phases. The latter exhibited preference for MgO, TiO2 and Mn2O3, whereas the aluminate was enriched in K2O. Alite and belite showed slight concentration of P2O5 and SO3. Na2O and Cr2O3 were evenly distributed in minor amounts in all the four principal phases.
