Abstract 1. 1. A fundamentally new method is proposed for the isolation of porphyrins from petroleum based on the formation of molecular complexes with halides of metals insoluble in hydrocarbons. 2. 2. Using TiCl4 porphyrins may be almost completely isolated from petroleum as complexes and recovered in the free state by treatment with water.
